Iowa Admin. Code r. 567-118.2 - Applicability and compliance
(1)
All discarded appliances must be demanufactured before being disposed of or
recycled. This chapter does not apply to the service, repair, reuse or
rebuilding of appliances or components for their original purpose. These rules
do not apply to the removal of capacitors, refrigerants or components
containing mercury during the maintenance or service of equipment containing
such items.
(2) A person must
obtain an appliance demanufacturing permit (ADP) from the department of natural
resources (DNR) before conducting any demanufacturing activities.
(3) Any person engaged in demanufacturing
must be in compliance with all federal and state laws relating to the
management and disposition of all hazardous wastes, hazardous materials,
universal wastes, PCBs and refrigerants.
