Iowa Code r. 17-7.14 - Nutrition performance standards
(1) Each meal served by the nutrition
services provider, whether at a congregate meal site, home-delivered or
elsewhere, must comply with the current Dietary Guidelines for Americans,
published by the Secretary of Health and Human Services and the Secretary of
Agriculture, and provide to each participating older individual:
a. A minimum of 33 1/3 percent of the RDA/AI
as established by the Food and Nutrition Board of the National Research Council
of the National Academy of Sciences, if the program provides one meal per
day;
b. A minimum of 66 2/3 percent
of the allowances if the program provides two meals per day; and
c. One hundred percent of the allowances if
the program provides three meals per day.
(2) AAA shall ensure that the areawide
percentage of residents with the greatest economic and social need is
proportionately represented in the characteristics of individuals served in the
nutrition program as outlined in 17-Chapter 6 for preference in service
delivery.
