Iowa Code r. 701-1000.30 - Suspension of license or permit

(1) Suspensions by a local authority or the department. At the time of a license or permit suspension, a placard furnished by the department must be placed in a conspicuous place in the front door or window of the licensed or permitted establishment. The placard must state that the license or permit is suspended, the suspension duration, and the reason for the suspension. No licensee or permittee may remove, alter, obscure, or destroy a suspension placard prior to an ordered suspension's expiration without the express written approval of the department.
(2) Effect of suspension. Alcoholic beverages must not be sold, served, or consumed on a licensed premises during a suspension period. A licensed premises may be open during a suspension period to conduct other lawful business during the suspension period. A retail alcohol licensee must not purchase alcoholic beverages from a wholesaler or the department during the suspension period.

This rule is intended to implement Iowa Code sections 123.4 and 123.39.
