Kan. Admin. Regs. § 28-35-178d - Luminous safety devices for use in aircraft
(a) A general
license is hereby issued to acquire, possess, and use tritium or promethium-147
contained in luminous safety devices for use in aircraft if:
(1) the device contains not more than 10
curies of tritium or 300 millicuries of promethium-147; and
(2) the device has been manufactured,
assembled or imported in accordance with a specific license, issued under the
provisions of section 32.53 of the regulations of the United States nuclear
regulatory commission or manufactured or assembled in accordance with a
specific license issued by an agreement state, which authorizes manufacture or
assembly of the device for distribution to persons generally licensed by the
agreement state.
(b)
Persons who acquire, possess or use luminous safety devices pursuant to the
general license issued in subsection (a) of this regulation shall be exempt
from the requirements of parts 4 and 10 of these regulations, except that they
shall comply with the provisions of K.A.R. 28-35-228a and 28-35-229a.
(c) The general license issued in
this regulation shall not authorize the manufacture, assembly or repair, or the
importation or exportation, of luminous safety devices containing tritium or
promethium-147.
(d) The general
license issued in this regulation shall not authorize the acquisition,
possession or use of promethium-147 contained in instrument dials.
