Kan. Admin. Regs. § 28-35-182d - Qualifications for a type C specific license of broad scope
A type C specific license of broad scope shall be issued only to an applicant who:
(a) submits a
statement that radioactive material will only be used by, or under the direct
supervision of, an individual or individuals who have:
(1) at least a bachelor's degree or
equivalent training and experience in a physical or biological science or in
engineering; and
(2) at least 40
hours of training and experience in the safe handling of radioactive materials,
and in the characteristics of ionizing radiation, units of radiation dose and
quantities, radiation detection instrumentation, and biological hazards of
exposure to radiation. Such training and experience shall be appropriate to the
type and forms of radioactive material to be used; and
(b) has established administrative controls
and provisions relating to procurement of radioactive materials, procedures,
record-keeping, material control and accounting, and management review to
assure safe operations. These control provisions shall include appropriate
administrative procedures which assure that:
(1) procurement and use of radioactive
material is controlled; and
(2)
safety evaluations of proposed uses of radioactive material are completed. Such
evaluations shall take into consideration the adequacy of facilities and
equipment and proper operating or handling procedures.
