Kan. Admin. Regs. § 28-35-282 - General requirements
(a) Each
radiographer's assistant shall be under the personal supervision of a
radiographer when using any radiographic exposure device, any associated
equipment, or a sealed source, or while conducting radiation surveys to
determine that the sealed source has returned to the shielded position or that
the radiation machine is shut off after each exposure. The personal supervision
shall include the following:
(1) The
radiographer's physical presence at the site where the sources of radiation are
being used;
(2) the availability
of the radiographer to provide immediate assistance, if required; and
(3) the radiographer's direct
observation of the assistant's performance of the operations.
(b) Each licensee or registrant
shall conduct an internal audit program to ensure that the agency's radioactive
material license conditions and the licensee's or registrant's operating and
emergency procedures are followed by each radiographer and radiographer's
assistant. These internal audits shall be performed at least quarterly, and
each radiographer shall be audited at least quarterly. A record of each
internal audit shall be maintained for departmental inspection for two years
after the date of the audit.
