Mich. Admin. Code R. 299.4306 - Type III landfill water quality performance standard
Rule 306.
(1) The design and siting of type III landfills shall ensure that groundwater at the solid waste boundary will not exceed standards described in the criteria for the classification of solid waste disposal facilities and practices, 40 C.F.R. part 257.3-4 and appendix I of 40 C.F.R. part 257, or that the concentration of substances will not be increased where their existing concentration exceeds the maximum levels established in 40 C.F.R. part 257, appendix I, unless groundwater is unsuitable for human consumption by having more than 10,000 mg/l total dissolved solids.The provisions of 40 C.F.R. part 257.3-4 and 40 C.F.R. part 257, appendix I are adopted by reference in R 299.4134.
(2) The design, siting, and operation of a type III landfill shall ensure that all of the requirements for the protection of surface and groundwater that are contained in part 31 of the act and rules promulgated under part 31 of the act shall be met.
