Mich. Admin. Code R. 339.5209 - Non-boiler external piping; power boilers; adoption and amendment of standards
Rule 209.
(1)
An owner of a boiler shall ensure that the installation of piping not covered
by the ASME boiler and pressure vessel code, section I, 2019 edition, is
installed as prescribed by the ASME code for pressure piping, B31.1, 2018
edition.
(2) The owner of a chemical
plant or petroleum refinery shall comply with subrule (1) of this rule or
ensure the installation is installed as prescribed by ASME code for chemical
plants and petroleum refineries, B31.3, 2019 edition.
(3) A licensee under this rule is not
required to possess an ASME code symbol stamp, but must hold a valid installers
license.
(4) The owner shall ensure
that the installation of all of the following piping meets the requirements
under subrule (1) of this rule:
(a) Blowoff
piping beyond the second valve out to the safe point of discharge.
(b) Steam piping out to the load.
(c) Feed-water piping from the
pump.
(d) Condensate
piping.
