Mich. Admin. Code R. 339.5237 - Platforms
Rule 237.
(1) A
platform must be installed at 1 end of all drums of a water tube boiler that
are more than 4 feet above the floor or walkway to permit safe access to the
interior of the drums for cleanout and inspection.
(2) An inspector shall notify the owner or
user who is required to conform to this rule and give written notice of a
violation to the owner or user that the installation of the required stairway,
runaway, platform, or ladder is to be made. The owner or user is allowed 1 year
from the date of the violation to complete the work.
(3) A licensee may request a deviation from
the requirements of this rule by submitting drawings to the chief inspector for
review and approval before installation of the boiler. The chief inspector
shall notify the licensee of the approval or denial of the
request.
