Mich. Admin. Code R. 400.1904b - Child care assistant; requirements
Rule 4b.
(1) A child
care assistant shall be 14 to 17 years of age.
(2) Prior to contact with children, the
individual shall be determined by the department to be eligible to serve as a
child care assistant, as required by R 400.1925.
(3) Within 90 days of hire, a child care
assistant shall provide the licensee all of the following:
(a) A valid certification in infant, child,
and adult CPR.
(b) A valid
certification in first aid.
(c)
Proof of training in the prevention of infectious disease, including
immunizations. Hours of training in the prevention of infectious disease from
MiRegistry will be allowed to count for training hours to meet this
requirement.
(4) A child
care assistant shall be supervised directly at all times by the licensee or a
child care staff member who is present on site and can observe the child care
assistant.
(5) A child care
assistant shall conduct himself or herself in a manner that is conducive to the
welfare of children.
(6) A child
care assistant shall not substitute for the licensee or a child care staff
member.
(7) A child care assistant
shall not drive a vehicle that is transporting children.
(8) The licensee is responsible for the
actions of a child care assistant who has contact with or access to children
who are cared for in a child care home.
