Mich. Admin. Code R. 408.10501 - Scope
Rule 501.
(1)
This standard covers powered platform installations permanently dedicated to
interior or exterior building maintenance of a specific structure or group of
structures. Building maintenance includes, but is not limited to, such tasks as
window cleaning, caulking, metal polishing and re-glazing.
(2) This standard does not apply to suspended
scaffolds or swinging scaffolds used to service buildings on a temporary basis
and covered under General Industry Safety and Health Standard Part 2
"Walking-Working Surfaces," nor to suspended scaffolds used for construction
work and covered under Construction Safety Standard Part 12 "Scaffolds and
Scaffold Platforms," and Construction Safety Standard Part 32 "Aerial Work
Platforms," as referenced in

408.10509.
(3) Powered and manual mobile elevating
platforms and self-propelled vehicle mounted elevating and rotating platforms
are not included in these rules but are provided for in General Industry Safety
and Health Standard Part 58 "Aerial Work Platforms," as referenced in
R
408.10509.
(4) Scaffolds are not included in these rules
but are provided for in General Industry Safety and Health Standard Part 2
"Walking-Working Surfaces," as referenced in
R
408.10509.
