Mich. Admin. Code R. 408.10585 - Hoist inspection; maintenance and cleaning
Rule 585.
(1)
Before lowering personnel below the top elevation of the building, a hoist
shall be tested each day in the lifting direction with the intended load to
make certain it has sufficient capacity to raise the personnel back to the
boarding level.
(2) All parts of
the equipment that affect the safe operation of a hoist shall be maintained in
proper working order so that the parts perform the functions for which they
were intended. The equipment shall be taken out of service when it is not in
proper working order.
(3) Control
or power contacts and relays shall be kept clean.
(4) All other equipment parts shall be kept
clean if their proper functioning would be affected by the presence of dirt or
other contaminants.
