Mich. Admin. Code R. 408.16337 - Boom cranes
Rule 6337.
(1)
A boom crane shall bear a sign or tag in the cab and on the outside showing the
maximum rated capacity in pounds or tons as related to the boom angle. The
rated capacity shall not be exceeded.
(2) The designed safety factor for all boom
crane parts shall be not less than 5.
(3) A boom crane shall be equipped with a
warning device which shall be used during lifting and moving of a load if an
employee other than the crane crew is in the loading or unloading
path.
(4) A boom crane load shall
not pass over the head of any employee.
(5) Only 1 member of a boom crane crew may
give signals to the crane operator. The signals shall conform to Table 2 'Hand
Signals for Boom-Type Cranes.'
(6)
A crane boom shall not be operated within 10 feet of overhead power lines
unless the power lines have been deenergized. The boom shall be painted a
bright yellow from, and including, the head sheave to a point 6 feet down the
boom towards the cab.
