Mich. Admin. Code R. 408.30445 - Automatic sprinkler systems
Rule 445.
Section 903.2.11.3 of the code is amended to read as follows:
903.2.11.3. Buildings more
than 30 feet (9144 mm) in height. An automatic sprinkler system shall be
installed throughout a building that has a floor level which has an occupant
load of 30 or more occupants and which is located 30 feet (9144 mm) or more
above the lowest level of fire department vehicle access.
Exceptions:
1.
Open parking structures.
2.
Occupancies in group F-2.
3.
Existing buildings having occupied floor levels not more than 55 feet (16764
mm) in height above the lowest level of fire department vehicle access, where
the local unit of government complies with the following parameters:
3.1. The local unit of government having a
municipal fire department with an ISO rating of 3 or lower, employing a
full-time career fire fighting staff.
3.2. The governing body of the local unit of
government has passed a resolution affirming the use of this exception and
filed that resolution with the department of licensing and regulatory affairs,
bureau of construction codes .
