Mich. Admin. Code R. 408.41474 - Blasting
Rule 1474.
(1)
All blasting and explosives handling shall be conducted as prescribed in
Construction Safety Standard Part 27 "Blasting and Use of Explosives," as
referenced in
R
408.41410.
(2) An employer shall not allow an employee
to enter a shaft or a tunnel heading after blasting until air quality meets
minimum requirements.
(3) Blasting
wire shall be kept clear of electrical lines, pipes, rails, and other
conductive material, excluding earth, to prevent explosives initiation or
employee exposure to electric current.
(4) After blasting operations in shafts, a
competent person shall determine if the walls, ladders, timbers, blocking, or
wedges have loosened. If so, necessary repairs shall be made before employees
other than those assigned to make the repairs are allowed in or below the
affected areas.
