1 Miss. Code. R. 5-6.3 - Verifications on oath or affirmation
A. The individual
making the verification on oath or affirmation shall appear personally before
the notary public.
B. The notary
public shall have personal knowledge or satisfactory evidence of the identity
of the individual making the verification on oath or affirmation.
C. A document containing a statement that is
being verified on oath or affirmation shall be signed in the notary public's
presence. A document containing a statement that is being verified may not be
signed subsequent to the verification on oath or affirmation.
D. The notary public shall compare the
signature on the statement verified to the signature of the individual on the
identification presented.
E. In
taking a verification on oath or affirmation, the notary public shall
administer an oath or affirmation to the individual making the statement and
require that the individual voluntarily swear or affirm, under penalty of
perjury, that the statements contained in the document are true.
