15 Miss. Code. R. 11-55-2.11.7 - Exits
1. At least two separate exit doors shall be
provided from every floor level.
2.
Exit doors shall be remote from each other.
3. Dead end corridors shall not exceed 20
feet in length.
4. Exit doors
necessitating passage through a kitchen shall not be counted as one of the two
remote exits.
5. Exit doors shall
be a minimum of 32 inches wide and open outward. No single leaf in an exit door
shall be less than 28 inches wide or more than 48 inches wide.
6. Any latch or other fastening device on an
exit door shall be provided with a knob, handle, panic bar, or other simple
type of releasing device. Dual action door fasteners are not
permitted.
7. The force required to
open fully exit doors shall not exceed 50 pounds applied to the latch stile
(panic bar).
8. An exit door shall
not reduce the effective width of a landing.
