15 Miss. Code. R. 16-1-1.21.1
Hospice care shall be provided by a hospice care team. Medical, nursing and counseling services are basic to hospice care and shall be provided directly (Medical Director only may be contract). Hospice care will be available twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week.
1. Medical services shall be under the
direction of the Medical Director.
2. Nursing services shall be under the
direction of a registered nurse and shall include, but not be limited to:
assessment, planning and delivery of nursing care; carrying out physician's
orders; documentation; evaluation of nursing care; and direction of patient
care provided by non-professionals.
3. Counseling services shall be provided in a
manner which best assists the patient and family unit to cope with the stresses
related to the patient's condition. These services may be provided by a member
of the clergy who is qualified through training and/or experience to provide
such services, or by other qualified counselor(s). Such counselors shall be
licensed, if applicable.
4. Social
services shall be directed by a social worker, and shall consist primarily of
assisting the patient and family unit to deal with problems of social
functioning affecting the health or well-being of the patient.
