15 Miss. Code. R. 16-1-4.10.9 - Orientation
Facilities shall have an orientation program upon hire and ongoing annual training thereafter.
1. A facility shall have an orientation
program upon hire that shall include, but is not limited to, training in the
following topics for all personnel:
a. The policies and procedures of the
facility;
b. Emergency and
evacuation procedures;
c. Client's
rights;
d. Abuse/neglect and
exploitation prevention and requirements concerning the reporting of abuse and
neglect of clients;
e. Procedures
for reporting of incidents and accidents;
f. Instruction in the specific
responsibilities of the employee's job; and
g. Cultural competency.
2. Orientation for direct care
staff shall include the following:
a. Training in Client Care Services
(Activities of Daily Living and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living)
provided by the facility;
b.
Infection control to include Universal Precautions; and,
c. Any specialized training to meet clients'
needs.
3. A new employee
shall not be given sole responsibility for the implementation of a client's
program plan until this training is completed.
4. All direct care staff shall receive and/or
have documentation of certification in Basic Life Support and general first aid
procedures within the first 30 days of employment.
