The rationale for using special treatment procedures shall be clearly stated in the patient's record.
1. When appropriate, there shall be evidence
in the patient's record that proposed special treatment procedures have been
reviewed before implementation by the head of the professional staff and/or his
or her designee.
2. The plan for
using special treatment procedures shall be consistent with the patient's
rights and the facility's policies governing the use of such
procedures.
3. The clinical
indications for the use of special treatment procedures shall be documented in
the patient's record.
4. The
clinical indications for the use of special treatment procedures shall outweigh
the known contraindications.
