30 Miss. Code. R. 2901-6.2 - Spectacle prescriptions
(a) The written
spectacle prescription of a licensed optometrist shall include the name of the
patient, the date the prescription is written, and the expiration date of the
prescription.
(b) Spectacle
prescriptions are defined as follows:
(1)
sphere power
(2) cylinder and axis
power, if necessary
(3) prism and
base amount, if necessary
(4)
bifocal power, if necessary
(c) A spectacle prescription is valid for no
more than two (2) years.
(d) If a
practicing optometrist fits for glasses he/she must give the patient a copy of
their written prescription whether they ask for it or not. The practicing
optometrist cannot require the patient to pay an extra fee or purchase
eyeglasses.
