31 Miss. Code. R. 1-1.7 - Eighteen and Under Driver License Policy
1. Students who
have a one year driver license and need a duplicate do not need an education
form unless it is within two months of expiration for age eighteen (18) and two
(2) weeks before expiration for ages seventeen (17) and under.
2. Anyone with a valid driver license may
bring an applicant with a permit to take the driver test. If the licensed
driver is under twenty-one (21) years of age, he must be driving the
vehicle.
3. Any married person
under eighteen (18) years of age does not need an education form, but will only
get a one (1) year license unless within two (2) months of Eighteenth
(18th) birthday.
4. A spouse may sign his/her spouse's
application as long as the spouse signing is seventeen (17) years of age or
older.
5. Persons under the age of
eighteen (18) who move to Mississippi who already possess a driver license must
provide an education form from the school last attended. This form must be on
the school's letterhead. Also the applicant will only be given a one (1) year
license even if his license from the previous state is a four (4) year
license.
6. Education forms are
good for thirty (30) days when applying for a license. Once the applicant
obtains a permit, we will accept the education form up to ninety (90)
days.
7. A license may be renewed
to a four (4) year license if within two (2) months of the Eighteenth
(18th) birthday. Otherwise, it must be a duplicate
and expire on his/her birthday.
8.
Any applicant who is under eighteen (18) years of age who has graduated high
school or received a GED Certificate does not need an education form. They must
present the original diploma or GED Certificate along with a photostatic copy
for you to keep and process the same as an education form.
9. If the student is home schooled, then the
parent must sign the certificate of school attendance.
