31 Miss. Code. R. 2-3.3 - Interstate Identification Index (III)
1. All states
submit records of felony and serious misdemeanor arrests to the Federal Bureau
of Investigation (FBI). The FBI maintains a national data base of these records
known as the Interstate Identification Index or III system. The III is an index
system which can be used to identify the state in which an arrest
occurred.
2. Mississippi maintains
its own detailed criminal records in the ECCH system. These records are
electronically transmitted to the III system. Expunction orders are also
forwarded to the FBI for expunction of records in the III system.
