Nev. Admin. Code § 484D.175 - Noise emission measurements: Operation of sound level meter
The sound level meter must be operated in accordance with the instrument manufacturer's instructions and as follows:
1. The A-weighting network and the fast meter response must be used.
2. An external calibration check must be made before and after each period of use and at intervals not exceeding 2 hours when the instrument is in use longer than this time.
3. The reading recorded must be the highest sound level obtained as the vehicle passes by, disregarding unrelated peaks due to extraneous ambient noises.
4. Measurements must be made only when the A-weighted ambient sound level, including wind effects, due to all sources other than the vehicle being measured is at least 10 dB lower than the sound level of the vehicle.
5. Measurements must be made only when the wind velocity is less than 12 miles per hour.
