Nev. Admin. Code § 652.Sec. 3.1 - NEW
1. A licensed laboratory only for the
collection of specimens that elects pursuant to subparagraph (3) of paragraph
(b) of subsection 1 of NAC
652.155 not to comply with the
provisions of this chapter, other than those listed in subsection 3, must:
(a) Have physical premises and environmental
conditions that:
(1) Are appropriate for the
collection of specimens, including, without limitation, the maintenance of an
appropriate temperature for the collection and maintenance of specimens for the
purpose of the analyses for which the specimens are collected; and
(2) Provide a safe environment in which
personnel of the laboratory are protected from biological, physical and
chemical hazards;
(b) Be
adequately ventilated; and
(c) Have
one or more showers and eyewashes where necessary for safety.
2. A person who is employed by a
licensed laboratory only for the collection of specimens described in
subsection 1 may collect a specimen if:
(a)
The employee is competent to collect specimens; and
(b) Each specimen is:
(1) Collected in accordance with the policies
of the licensed laboratory to which the specimen will be sent for analysis;
and
(2) Labeled with the name of
the patient and a unique identifier for the patient.
3. A licensed laboratory only for
the collection of specimens described in subsection 1 shall comply with the
provisions of:
(a) NAC
652.291;
(b) Subparagraphs (1) and (2) of paragraph
(b) of subsection 2 of NAC
652.310; and
(c) Subsections 1 and 2 of NAC
652.350.
4. The director, a designee of the director
or a licensed physician at a licensed laboratory only for the collection of
specimens described in subsection 1 shall regularly verify compliance with the
requirements of subsections 1, 2 and 3.
