N.J. Admin. Code § 12:90-5.1 - Scope of subchapter
(a) This subchapter
shall apply to the design, construction, inspection, installation, repair and
alteration of unfired pressure vessels, except as provided in (b)
below.
(b) This subchapter shall
not apply to:
1. Unfired pressure vessels
having an internal or external operating pressure not exceeding 15
psig;
2. Unfired pressure vessels
having an inside diameter not exceeding six inches;
3. Unfired pressure vessels used as a hot
water supply tank heated by steam or any other indirect means when such unfired
pressure vessels serve dwellings of less than six family units or other
dwellings with accommodations for less than 25 persons when none of the
following limitations on the unfired pressure vessel are exceeded:
i. A heat input of 200,000 BTU per
hour;
ii. A water temperature of
200 degrees Fahrenheit;
iii. A
nominal water capacity of 120 gallons.
4. Any unfired pressure vessel under the
jurisdiction and control of the United States Government when actively
regulated by a Federal agency;
5.
Any unfired pressure vessel used solely for the propulsion of a motor vehicle
regulated by the Motor Vehicle Act, Title 39 of the Revised Statutes;
6. Any unfired pressure vessel that does not
exceed a design pressure of 300 psi and a design temperature of 210 degrees
Fahrenheit containing water with air under pressure, the compression of which
serves only as a cushion; and
7.
Piping components from the first threaded, welded or flanged fitting.
