N.J. Admin. Code § 13:47-20.18 - Method for opening card game tables
(a) Tables used for
card games operated or conducted at a casino night shall be opened pursuant to
the following procedures:
1. After receiving
the cards at the table, the dealer shall sort and inspect the cards and the
supervising class "A" operator shall verify the inspection;
2. Following the inspection of the cards by
the dealer and the verification by the supervising class "A" operator, the
cards shall be spread out face up on the table, according to suit and in
sequence, for visual inspection by the first player to be seated at the
table;
3. Immediately prior to the
commencement of play and not before a player is afforded an opportunity to
visually inspect the cards from each deck at the table, each deck shall be
separately turned face down on the table, mixed thoroughly and
stacked;
4. Each deck of cards
shall be shuffled and cut in accordance with the provisions of this
subchapter;
5. If an automated
shuffling device is being used, one of the decks shall be cut in accordance
with the provisions of this subchapter and the other deck shall be placed or
left in the automated shuffling device for the next round of play;
and
6. If an automated shuffling
device is not being used, one of the decks shall be cut in accordance with the
provisions of this subchapter and the other deck shall be maintained for
subsequent use. In the alternative, a casino night holder may mix, shuffle and
cut only the deck intended for immediate use and maintain the other deck for
rotation into the game. Upon rotation, prior to being dealt, the other deck
shall be mixed, shuffled and cut.
