N.M. Admin. Code § 11.21.2.32 - RUN-OFF ELECTIONS

In an election where there are three or more choices on the ballot, if no ballot choice receives a majority of the valid votes cast, and at least forty percent (40%) of eligible voters voted, the director shall set a run-off election in which voters will be permitted to cast ballots for the two choices that received the highest number of votes. A new tally shall be issued and served following the counting of the votes of a run-off election. A run-off election must be conducted within the fifteen (15) day statutory period following completion of the initial election.
