N.M. Admin. Code § 18.3.12.17 - DISCONNECTION OF DRIVELINE
A towing service may disconnect or remove the driveline from a motor vehicle to be towed when:
A.
it is necessary to prevent mechanical damage to the motor vehicle; or
B. the motor vehicle's front end is so
damaged, or for some other reason, it cannot be towed by lifting the rear
end.
