N.M. Admin. Code § 6.80.4.10 - TERM OF A CHARTER
A. A charter
may be approved for an initial term of six (6) years, provided that the first
year shall be used exclusively for planning and not for completing the
application. The planning year shall be the fiscal year in which the charter is
authorized, beginning on the July 1 date on which applications were due and
ending on June 30, regardless of the number of months that may be available to
a charter school for planning activities.
B. A charter may be renewed for successive
periods of five (5) years each unless a lesser period is agreed to in writing
by the charter school and its authorizer. The five (5) years of the charter
will commence on July 1 of the fiscal year after the charter was approved by
its authorizer and shall align with the dates of the fiscal year.
