N.M. Admin. Code § 8.321.11.32 - STAFF TRAINING
A.
Training for each new employee and volunteer who provides direct care shall
include a minimum of 16 hours of training and be completed prior to providing
unsupervised care to clients.
B. At
least 12 hours of on-going training shall be provided to staff that provides
direct care at least annually; the training and proof of competency shall
include at a minimum:
(1) behavioral health
interventions;
(2) crisis
interventions;
(3) substance use
disorders and co-occurring disorders;
(4) withdrawal management protocols and
procedures, if withdrawal management is provided;
(5) clinical and psychosocial needs of the
population served;
(6) psychotropic
medications and possible side effects;
(7) ethnic and cultural considerations of the
geographic area served;
(8)
community resources and services including pertinent referral
criteria;
(9) treatment and
discharge planning with an emphasis on crisis stabilization;
(10) fire safety and evacuation
training;
(11) safe food handling
practices (for persons involved in food preparation), to include:
(a) instructions in proper storage;
(b) preparation and serving of
food;
(c) safety in food
handling;
(d) appropriate personal
hygiene; and
(e) infectious and
communicable disease control.
(12) confidentiality of records and client
information;
(13) infection
control;
(14) client
rights;
(15) reporting requirements
for abuse, neglect or exploitation in accordance with Section 8.370.9
NMAC;
(16) smoking policy for
staff, clients and visitors;
(17)
methods to provide quality client care;
(18) emergency procedures; and
(19) adverse medication reactions;
(20) the proper way to implement a crisis
intervention plans.
C.
Documentation of orientation and subsequent trainings shall be kept in the
personnel records at the facility.
