N.M. Admin. Code § 8.370.20.28 - POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
All facilities licensed pursuant to these regulations must have written policies and procedures covering the following areas:
A. actions to be taken in case of accidents
or emergencies involving a participant;
B. policies and procedures on reporting
suspected adult abuse or neglect;
C. policies and procedures for admission and
disenrollment of participants;
D.
policies and procedures for action to be taken in the event a participant is
found missing from the facility;
E.
policies and procedures for handling of medications;
F. policies and procedures for handling of
complaints received from guardians or any other person;
G. the facility must have policies and
procedures prohibiting the following:
(1)
abusing or neglecting a participant (e.g., slapping, hitting, striking,
withholding food as a punishment, verbally threatening, or failing to provide a
participant with the level of services and degree of supervision;
(2) retaliation against a participant because
of complaints or suggestions regarding the management of the
facility;
(3) social
isolation;
(4) the use of chemical
restraint.
H. If at any
time a participant's rights are restricted in order to protect the health,
safety, and welfare of the participant the reasons for the restriction of the
rights must be clearly documented in the participant's record.

restraints.
J. These policies and
procedures may be adopted from other sources.
