N.M. Admin. Code § 8.371.2.6 - OBJECTIVE
The purpose of these regulations is to:
A. Establish professional minimum standards
for ICF/MR facilities in the state of New Mexico which were formerly licensed
under regulations governing long term care facilities.
B. Monitor ICF/MR facilities with these
regulations through surveys to identify any areas which could be dangerous or
harmful to the clients or staff.
C.
Encourage the maintenance of ICF/MR facilities that provide quality services
which maintain or improve the health and quality of life to the
clients.
D. Expand the availability
of ICF/MR programs to assure timely placement for persons who need residential
services.
E. Assure integrated
active treatment programs, homelike living arrangements, and consumer
protections for ICF/MR clients.
F.
Promote access and availability statewide.
G. Recognize specialized ICF/MR programs to
serve individuals with intense needs.
