Ohio Admin. Code 3335-3-28 - Dean of libraries
(A) The dean of libraries shall be appointed
by the board of trustees upon nomination of the president. Before making this
nomination, the president shall confer with the
executive vice president and provost who, in turn, shall confer with
representatives of the faculty of the university libraries and with the
council on distance education, libraries and
information technology
library
committee .
(B) The dean of
libraries shall have the responsibility and authority for administering the
university libraries under the jurisdiction of that office and the university
archives. In the discharge of library duties the dean shall be guided by the
policies established by the council on distance
education, libraries and information technology
library committee (see rule 3335-5-48.2 of the
Administrative Code). The dean shall report to the president through the
executive vice president and provost.
(C) Without limiting the generality of the
foregoing, the dean shall evaluate continuously the administrative and
operating practices of the university libraries under the jurisdiction of that
office and the university archives, and lead in the study of methods in
improving them; recommend appointments, promotions, and dismissals under the
rules of the university; and prepare for the approval of the executive vice
president and provost's annual recommendations for the budgets for personnel
and for archives and library materials.
