Ohio Admin. Code 3701-19-19 - Physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy services
(A) Each hospice
care program shall provide or arrange for the provision of physical therapy,
occupational therapy, or speech or language therapy unless the provision of
those services is waived by the director pursuant to division (A)(4) of section
3712.03 of the Revised Code and
paragraph (B)
(C) of this rule. The services shall be adequate in
frequency to meet the needs of the hospice patients.
(B) Physical therapy services, occupational
therapy services and speech or language therapy services must be offered in a
manner consistent with accepted standards of practice for the provision of
service to hospice patients.
(C)
The director may waive the requirement for providing physical therapy,
occupational therapy, or speech or language therapy when the requirement would
create a hardship because the therapy is not readily available in the
geographic area served by the provider of the hospice care program. A request
for a waiver under this paragraph shall be submitted to the director in writing
and shall be accompanied by documentation of the number and location of
therapists in the area served by the program and of the efforts that the
program has made to engage those therapists and to encourage other therapists
to serve the area.
(D) Physical
therapy shall be provided by a person who is licensed as a physical therapist
under Chapter 4755. of the Revised Code and who meets the requirements under
Chapter 3701-13 of the Administrative Code.
(E) Occupational therapy shall be provided by
a person who is licensed as an occupational therapist under Chapter 4755. of
the Revised Code and who meets the requirements under Chapter 3701-13 of the
Administrative Code.
(F) Speech or
language therapy shall be provided by a person who is licensed as a speech
pathologist or audiologist under Chapter 4753. of the Revised Code and who
meets the requirements under Chapter 3701-13 of the Administrative
Code.
