Ohio Admin. Code 3745-81-89 - Analytical methods
(A) Analyses for pH, conductivity, calcium,
alkalinity, orthophosphate, silica and temperature shall be performed using
analytical methods as specified in rule
3745-81-27
of the Administrative Code.
(B)
Analyses for lead and copper shall be performed using analytical methods as
specified in rule
3745-81-27
of the Administrative Code and shall only be conducted by laboratories
certified by the director and meet all requirements specified in rule
3745-89-03
of the Administrative Code. Laboratories performing these analyses shall
do the following :
(1) Achieve the method detection limit (MDL)
for lead of 0.001 milligrams per liter according to the procedures in rule
3745-89-03
of the Administrative Code. This need only be accomplished if the laboratory
will be processing source water at the entry point to the distribution system
composite samples under paragraph (A)(1)(d) of rule
3745-81-88
of the Administrative Code.
(2) Use
the practical quantitation level (PQL) for lead of 0.005 milligrams per
liter.
(3) Use the PQL for copper
of 0.050 milligrams per liter.
(4)
Complete analysis of lead or copper sample not later
than thirty business days after receipt of the sample.
(C) The director may allow the use
of previously collected monitoring data for purposes of monitoring if the data
were collected and analyzed in accordance with the requirements of this
rule.
(D) All lead and copper
levels measured between the PQL and MDL, as specified in paragraph (B) of this
rule, must be reported as measured. Any samples below the MDL shall be reported
as zero.
