Okla. Admin. Code § 1:2021-10

Executive Order 2021-10

I, J. Kevin Stitt, Governor of the State of Oklahoma, pursuant to the authority vested in me by Sections 1 and 2 of Article VI of the Oklahoma Constitution, hereby direct the appropriate steps be taken to fly all American and Oklahoma flags on State property immediately and until sundown on the day of interment to honor the life and legacy of former Vice President Walter Mondale.

Former Vice President Walter Mondale served under President Jimmy Carter from 1977 to 1981. Walter Mondale was a fixture in Minnesota politics, serving as the state's attorney general and then as a United States Senator for twelve years. He was a kind and decent man who worked tirelessly to improve the lives of his fellow Americans and promote peace across the globe, including his critical role in brokering peace between Israel and Egypt as part of the Camp David Accords in 1979, negotiations with South Africa's Apartheid leaders which led to a peaceful regime change, and saving refugees from the Vietnam War in South East Asia. Walter Mondale transformed the vice presidency for everyone who follows. His leadership, service, and dedication to the State of Minnesota, our nation and the world will be missed.

This Executive Order shall be forwarded to the Division of Capital Assets Management, which shall cause the provisions of this Order to be implemented by all appropriate agencies of State government.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of the State of Oklahoma to be affixed at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, this 22 nd day of April, 2021.

BY THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA

J. Kevin Stitt
