Or. Admin. Code § 340-232-0210 - Asphaltic and Coal Tar Pitch Used for Roofing Coating
(1) No person shall operate or use equipment
for melting, heating or holding asphalt or coal tar pitch for the on-site
construction, installation, or repair of roofs unless the gas-entrained
effluents from such equipment are contained by close fitting covers.
(2) A person operating equipment subject to
this rule shall maintain the temperature of the asphaltic or coal tar pitch
below 285° C. (550° F.), or 17° C. (30° F.) below the flash
point whichever is the lower temperature, as indicated by a continuous reading
thermometer.
(3) The provisions of
this rule shall not apply to equipment having a capacity of 100 liters (26
gallons) or less; or to equipment having a capacity of 600 liters (159 gallons)
or less provided it is equipped with a tightly fitted lid or cover.
