Or. Admin. Code § 437-002-2101 - Compressed Gases (General Requirements)
(1) Inspection of compressed gas cylinders.
Each employer must conduct a visual inspection of compressed gas cylinders
under their control to determine they are in a safe condition. Visual and other
inspections must be conducted as prescribed in the Hazardous Materials
Regulations of the Department of Transportation (49 CFR Parts 171-179 and 14
CFR Part 103). Where those regulations are not applicable, visual and other
inspections must be conducted in accordance with Compressed Gas Association
(CGA) Pamphlet C-6 2013, 11th Edition, Standard for Visual Inspection of Steel
Compressed Gas Cylinders and CGA Pamphlet C-8 2005, Reaffirmed 2010, 7th
Edition, Standard for Requalification of DOT-3HT, CTC-3HT, and TC-3HTM Seamless
Steel Cylinders.
(2) Compressed
gases. The handling, storage, and utilization of all compressed gases in
cylinders, portable tanks, rail tankcars, or motor vehicle cargo tanks must be
in accordance with Compressed Gas Association Pamphlet P-1 2008, 11th Edition,
Safe Handling of Compressed Gases in Containers.
(3) Safety relief devices for compressed gas
containers. Compressed gas cylinders, portable tanks, and cargo tanks must have
pressure relief devices installed and maintained in accordance with Compressed
Gas Association CGA S-1.1 2011 14th edition and, CGA S-1.2 2009 9th
edition.
