52 Pa. Code § 33.67 - Use of back up hose in rail operations
(a) The use of back-up hoses in all train
operations shall be for emergency stop of the train movement; however, the use
of back-up hose for car spotting operations shall be permitted, providing that
communication with the engineman is available to insure the safety of the
movement.
(b) Future repairs to or
replacement of back-up hoses by any carrier shall be to modify the hose to at
least one-inch diameter (I.D.), with a maximum overall length not to exceed ten
feet.
(c) All carriers shall
instruct their employes in the proper use of the back-up hose, to include
examination of same to make certain that any back-up hose used, will be in a
fit and safe condition before being used in any subsequent train
movement.
