1 Tex. Admin. Code § 372.1101 - Social Security Number Requirements
(a) In the TANF Program, all certified group
members must either provide a social security number (SSN) or demonstrate
having applied for an SSN. The Texas Health and Human Services Commission
(HHSC) postpones requiring proof of application for an SSN for a child who is
six months of age or younger until either the next review of eligibility or the
sixth month after the child's birth month, whichever is later.
(b) For SNAP, household members must meet the
requirements in
7 C.F.R.
273.6.
(c) HHSC verifies with the Social Security
Administration the accuracy of the SSN provided by a TANF or SNAP applicant.
Household members must cooperate to clear any discrepancies.
(d) HHSC may disqualify a person from TANF
benefits, SNAP benefits, or both, if HHSC determines that the person has failed
to comply with this section.
