19 Tex. Admin. Code § 231.51 - Reading Improvement (One Year or More Below Grade Level), Grades 6-8
An assignment in a departmentalized classroom for Reading Improvement (one year or more below grade level), Grades 6-8, for a holder of a valid elementary, secondary, or all-level certificate is allowed with one of the following certificates.
(1)
Bilingual Generalist: Early Childhood-Grade 6 (Grade 6 only).
(2) Bilingual Generalist: Grades
4-8.
(3) Core Subjects: Early
Childhood-Grade 6 (Grade 6 only).
(4) Core Subjects with Science of Teaching
Reading: Early Childhood-Grade 6 (Grade 6 only).
(5) Core Subjects: Grades 4-8.
(6) Core Subjects with Science of Teaching
Reading: Grades 4-8.
(7) Elementary
English (Grades 1-8). This assignment requires verifiable preparation in
teaching of reading such as in-service, seminar, or college course in reading.
Initial assignments beginning with the 1990-1991 school year require nine
semester credit hours of upper-division coursework in reading with at least one
course in diagnostic reading techniques.
(8) Elementary Reading (Grades
1-8).
(9) Elementary teacher
certificate plus 18 semester credit hours in English and nine semester credit
hours of upper-division coursework in reading with at least one course in
diagnostic reading techniques.
(10)
English as a Second Language Generalist: Early Childhood-Grade 6 (Grade 6
only).
(11) English as a Second
Language Generalist: Grades 4-8.
(12) English Language Arts and Reading:
Grades 4-8.
(13) English Language
Arts and Reading with Science of Teaching Reading: Grades 4-8.
(14) English Language Arts and Reading:
Grades 7-12 (Grades 7 and 8 only).
(15) English Language Arts and Reading:
Grades 8-12 (Grade 8 only).

English Language Arts and Reading/Social Studies: Grades 4-8.

6-8--Reading.
(23) Junior High
School or High School--English. This assignment requires verifiable preparation
in the teaching of reading such as in-service, seminar, or college course in
reading. Initial assignments beginning with the 1990-1991 school year require
nine semester credit hours of upper-division coursework in reading with at
least one course in diagnostic reading techniques.
(24) Junior High School or High
School--English Language Arts, Composite. This assignment includes at least six
semester credit hours of reading. Initial assignments beginning with the
2003-2004 school year require nine semester credit hours of upper-division
coursework in reading with at least one course in diagnostic reading
techniques.
(25) Junior High School
or High School--Reading.

Legacy Master Reading Teacher (Early Childhood-Grade 12).

English (Grades 6-12). This assignment requires verifiable preparation in the
teaching of reading such as in-service, seminar, or college course in reading.

(30) Secondary English Language Arts,
Composite (Grades 6-12). This assignment includes at least six semester credit
hours of reading. Initial assignments beginning with the 2003-2004 school year
require nine semester credit hours of upper-division coursework in reading with
at least one course in diagnostic reading techniques.
(31) Secondary Reading (Grades
6-12).
(32) Teacher certificate
plus 9 semester credit hours of upper-division coursework in reading with at
least one course in diagnostic reading techniques.
