25 Tex. Admin. Code § 117.61 - General Requirements
(a) An individual
may not act as a dialysis technician unless that individual is trained and
competent under this subchapter.
(b) Trainees shall be identified as such
during any time spent in the patient treatment area.
(c) Until the successful completion of the
competency evaluation, the trainee may provide patient care only as part of a
training program and under the immediate supervision of a registered nurse or
an assigned preceptor. A preceptor shall be a licensed nurse or dialysis
technician who has one year of experience in hemodialysis obtained within the
last 24 months, a recommendation by the supervising nurse to be a preceptor,
and a current competency skills checklist on file in the facility.
