26 Tex. Admin. Code § 554.358 - Hazardous Areas for New Facilities
(a)
Protection from hazardous areas must be as required in NFPA 101, except as
required or modified in this section. Gas-fired equipment must not be located
in attic spaces, except under the following conditions:
(1) the area around the units must have a
one-hour fire resistance rating;
(2) the enclosure must have sprinkler
protection; and
(3) combustion and
venting air must be ducted from the exterior in properly sized metal
ducts.
(b) Laboratories
must be protected according to NFPA 99.
(c) Cooking equipment must be protected
according to NFPA 101.
(d) Doors to
hazardous areas must have closers and must be kept closed unless provided with
an approved hold-open device such as an alarm activated magnetic hold-open
device, as permitted by NFPA 101. Doors must be single-swing type with positive
latching hardware. View panels at laundry entrances must be provided and be of
materials adequate to maintain the integrity of the door as allowed by NFPA
101.
