37 Tex. Admin. Code § 1.141 - Aircraft Operation Regulations
(a)
Department of Public Safety aircraft shall be used only for official state
business.
(b) No person except
department personnel may be transported unless specifically authorized by
designated department personnel.
(c) All aircraft shall be operated in
compliance with all state and federal laws and all applicable federal, state,
and department regulations.
(d) The
pilot shall have the sole responsibility for determining whether a flight is
safe or not in terms of weather, condition of aircraft, and other relevant
criteria known by the pilot at the time the decision is made.
(e) All Department of Public Safety pilots
are required to hold a current second class medical certificate.
(f) Department pilots have blanket
authorization to proceed immediately, if appropriate, to the scenes of major
crimes, searches, jailbreaks, or disaster scenes, and to establish surveillance
and communications and provide aerial support as the situation
dictates.
