37 Tex. Admin. Code § 343.372 - Work by Residents
(a) Residents
may be required to perform the following types of work without monetary
compensation:
(1) assignments that are part
of a formal vocational training curriculum;
(2) tasks performed as a community service
pursuant to a juvenile court order; and
(3) routine housekeeping chores that are
shared by all youth in the facility, including general facility
maintenance.
(b)
Residents shall not be permitted to perform any work prohibited by state or
federal regulations pertaining to child labor.
(c) Repetitive, purposeless, or degrading
make-work is prohibited.
(d) A
resident's work assignments shall be excused or temporarily suspended if
medically contraindicated.
(e)
Residents shall be provided with the necessary supervision, tools, cleaning
implements, and clothing to safely and effectively complete their
assignments.
(f) Residents shall
not perform personal services for staff, contractors, or volunteers.
