Utah Admin. Code R650-217-4 - Motorboats of Open Construction
A motorboat is considered of open construction if its sole source of propulsion is an outboard motor, and it is not equipped with:
(1) a closed compartment under thwarts, such
as the motor well or a structural crosspiece that sometimes forms a
seat;
(2) seats where portable fuel
tanks may be stored;
(3) double
bottoms that are not sealed to the hull;
(4) double bottoms that are not filled with
flotation material;
(5) closed
living spaces;
(6) closed stowage
compartments in which combustible or flammable materials are stored;
or
(7) permanently installed fuel
tanks.
