14-033 Code Vt. R. 14-050-033-X - TITLES; DEATH OF A REGISTRANT
The following documents will be required under T23, VSA, § 2023 to clarify the procedures when a person dies.
1. Intestate - No probate. A death
certificate will be required as well as a letter from an officer of the court
in Vermont. If the officer of the court is from out-of-state, proof will be
required that the officer is a member of the bar, or is a court
official.
2. Intestate - Probate. A
letter from the probate judge naming the administrator of the estate will be
required.
3. Will. Letter from
probate and proof of appointment of executor identity.
4. Vehicle held jointly by husband and wife.
A death certificate will be required as well as a statement that the
individuals named on the title were husband and wife unless such appears on the
death certificate.
5. The
Commissioner or his designee may accept other documentation.
