Driving while Intoxicated (DWI)

Driving while intoxicated (DWI) refers to driving under the influence of alcohol. In some states and contexts, DWI can also include driving after partaking in drugs. DWI in some states stands for driving while impaired which more broadly encompasses driving while in a dangerous condition such as being extremely sleepy.
