pro tempore
Pro tempore, also pro tem, is a Latin phrase meaning for the time being. Pro tempore is typically used to describe a person who is temporarily filling a role when the official person for the role is unavailable. For example, a judge or attorney may act pro tempore in a court for another judge who is incapacitated or otherwise unable to fulfil their role.
